Frank and his wife Gillian became followers of Jesus back in 1967, after getting married in the UK and emigrating to NZ their lives were changed completely. Three years later they had arrived in Sydney and were part of a large growing church in Greenacre, where Frank served in various capacities including, Deacon, Youth Worker and Church Council member during which time their two sons were born.
Moving to Berry in 1979 Frank and Gillian were active in the Uniting Church as youth leaders and Frank served as an Elder and Lay Preacher for several years. When Berry Community Church (now SCLC) was formed Frank and Gillian were foundational members and Frank was part of the Elders Council until 2020, when he retired, before returning to serve as an Elder again in 2022. |
Catherine has been a part of this church family since its birth and has found it a joy and delight to see it grow. Catherine lives in Bomaderry and works full time for Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District as a Health Information Manager, spending part of each week at Wollongong, Shoalhaven and Shellharbour Hospitals and also working from home.
Catherine is thankful to have been brought up to attend church. It took many years however for her to take on board that God actually was interested in her personally, and that he desired a relationship with her through His Son. She was helped along this journey by faithful Christian friends who shared their wisdom and vulnerability. Catherine finds that she grows in her mistakes and in the challenges of life as God continues to show her that He has all she needs and is all she needs. The following verse from Psalm 32:8 is very encouraging to Catherine in facing challenges: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” |
Katrina is a familiar face at the morning service as a long-time member of this church. Katrina met her husband Jason at Berry Uniting youth group before our church was formed, keeping many connections with our church members over the years. This community holds a special place in her heart, as she felt so loved the day they came back to Berry in 2016 and that her kids have been embraced and nurtured here.
As a homeschooling mum she has the time and passion to be actively involved in our church. Having run and participated in connect groups and more recently the pastoral search committee, Katrina is fully invested in contributing to the life of our church community. Katrina has said that she is humbled to be nominated as an Elder and is committed to seeking God first in order to serve and support our beloved church family, using her gifts in whatever way she can. |
The Weakley’s have been in and around our church community for many years. They most recently reconnected in 2016 as their children became involved in the youth ministry at South Coast Life.
Having both been involved in youth ministry in various capacities, Gordon & Kate are now delighted to be the Youth Ministry Leaders of Berry Youth and enjoy seeking God’s heart for the young people in our church and their families…. and having a lot of fun on Friday nights! Otherwise, they run their own business and homeschool their school aged children. Seeing their kids growing up in the Lord and serving in this church community as a family brings them great joy. Hospitality is a big part of the Weakley family culture as spending time with others and building strong relationships is a priority. They hope that their service in the life of the South Coast Life Church family will enable an ever-increasing reliance on the Lord for wisdom and deeper relationships within the church community, as well as the opportunity to use their gifts in ways that will result in blessing and growth. |
